Charles & Associates (St. Kitts and Nevis): Representatives of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court have been and continue to be in the Federation for the purposes of training legal assistants, legal practitioners and Court administrators alike, about the use of the E-litigation portal, which is scheduled to go live in St. Kitts and Nevis on September 20, 2019. Effective September 20, 2019, the filing of ALL new matters MUST be done electronically, in both the Court of Appeal and Civil Division of the High Court. So while many are asking themselves, what will I do with all these stamps I have bought; most are encouraged by the paperless, fast and efficient manner in which filing, stamping and service of documents (after initial service) would take place. Clients, Attorneys and Judges alike would have electronic access to case files by the click of a mouse. For practitioners, in particular, this transitions would be especially helpful in managing internal administrative costs, as the printing documents would decrease exponentially, especially in relation to Court of Appeal matters which often requires printing of bundles. It may be useful to note that matters already filed, continue to be dealt with by way of manual filings and as such, your stamps would not go to a complete waste. Cheers….
